Jenna Mango has had trials throughout her life. She was bullied and harassed in high school, she had an illness that was immobilizing her that doctors couldn’t seem to find an answer for, a family member attempting suicide, a controlling relationship, depression, and she is here with us today trying to help people overcome and be the best versions of themselves that they can be.

In high school, a rumor had circulated about Jenna, that had students ridiculing and making fun of her on a regular basis. It got to the point that she would eat her lunch in the guidance counselor’s office, or by herself in the bathroom, or anywhere that wasn’t around people. I will skip the terrible details, but she went through this, and when the person that started the rumors about her graduated, she forgave him. She said she did this not to make him feel better, but so she could move on from this terrible event.

During her time in high school, she got in a relationship with someone. It lasted four and a half years, and ended up being a very controlling and unhealthy relationship. She had to realize that she allowed this man to have power over her for so long that she couldn’t even recognize herself.

She had also incurred an illness at this point. It had the ability to make her entirely immobile, and it was stopping her from playing field hockey, which she truly loved. It was causing issues in all areas of her life, and no doctor could seem to figure out what it was. She advocated for herself, arguing against their claims that it was depression. Eventually she went to a chiropractor who touched her back, and then asked her if she had been having symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome. Turns out this is what it was, and she was able to take the steps to manage her sickness.

These are just the beginnings of what she had to deal with, but I tell you all this to let you know that she has the experience in overcoming her problems, accepting, forgiving, and moving on in a way that could benefit a lot of people. She wrote a book, called “Choose to R1se,” the “1” in their referring to being 1% better everyday. It details her adversities, and the steps that she took to use them to improve her life, instead of letting them drag her down.

Today, besides being an author, Jenna holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, she is a TBA (World Thai Boxing Association) Coach and NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) Master Practitioner while she is continuing to train in Hawaiian Kemp, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing and Boxing.
