Christine Conti and Brian Prendergast are co-hosts of the Two Fit Crazies and a Microphone podcast. They normally discuss Fitness, Health, Nutrition, Running, Longevity, Vitality and Healthy People Doing Healthy Things on their own show. However, in this episode they are our guests on our show and we got them talking about themselves. These two are amazing human beings with amazing stories of overcoming adversity. In this episode you will be encouraged to look at the difficult times as gifts.

Cyndy and I recently started The Overcomer’s Podcast! Our approach to podcasting has been the same as our approach to business. We always read books, take courses, examine similar products and try to find someone to mentor us.

In our podcast Journey of listening and being guests on other podcasts we had the fortunate experience of meeting Christine Conti and Brian Prendergast who are the co-hosts of the Two Fit Crazies and a Microphone. They have built an amazing podcast that is making a huge impact on the fitness industry and they recently agreed to be on our show to share about their life’s Journey of overcoming and their reason for doing what they do.

Their stories include abuse, addiction, depression, living with a life threatening illness and having the courage to leave corporate america to follow your passion into a career in fitness.

Christine Conti is owner of Conti Fitness and Wellness, LLC. She is an International Fitness Presenter, Motivational Speaker: Fighting Autoimmune Disease through holistic approaches. Despite her health issues she is a Competitive Marathon Runner/Triathlete. Prior to making her career in fitness she was a Secondary English Teacher and Investment Banker. Last but not least it has been rumored that she Secretly moonlights as Wonder Woman.

Brian Prendergast is Founder and Head Coach of High Five Health and Fitness. He is the Creator of #DadsWhatsUp, a free, social media home base for anyone (especially the dads) looking for a starting point for improving their health. Brian is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, USA Track and Field (USATF) Level 1 Coach and Competitive Masters Runner.

4:08 – 5:52 – Christine shares that she has been diagnosed with the same hereditary autoimmune disease that left her grandmother a quadriplegic. You gotta hear how she responded to the situation.

6:36 – 6:59 – What if your bad stories are not bad stories but gifts. Christine and Brian share that we need these stories to be who we are.

7:27 – 9:22 – Brian shares a great lesson on following your passion. He refers to himself as a recovering mortgage banker who was struggling with addiction and trying to live by a made up playbook about adulthood. 13 years ago he made a decision to follow his passion and start a career in fitness. Listen to this clip to hear more on this life changing moment.

9:50 – 11:01– Christine goes deeper on how she deals with her life threatening disease by living life more fully and achieving things on her bucket list. She does things that other people think are crazy such as running marathons. It was running marathons that got her connected with Brian and ultimately how the Two Fit Crazies podcast was born.

19:50 – 21:43 – In this clip Cyndy asked Christine about her depression and how she overcame it. She shares that it is more coping than overcoming. It’s just a part of who she is and she has learned to use fitness to deal with that part of herself. She truly demonstrates that “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”

35:40 – 39:17 – It was so valuable to have the hosts of Two Fit Crazies on our podcasts. They talk to all the leaders in the fitness industry and so we asked them for their insights on the future of fitness. Wait till you hear what they said!
